UK Faces Its Wettest, Windiest Autumn Week as Weather Warning Takes Effect

(MENAFN) The UK is preparing for its wettest and windiest period of the autumn so far, with the Met Office issuing a yellow severe weather warning for parts of southwestern England and Wales on Friday.

The alert applies to southwest Wales, southwest England and coastal locations stretching towards West Sussex.

Wind speeds are expected to produce gusts of between 50 and 60 miles per hour (80–97 kilometers per hour) across affected areas, while exposed locations could experience gusts reaching 70 mph (113 kph).

An approaching low-pressure system may bring substantial rainfall to wide areas of the country, including regions facing drought conditions. However, the amount of rain each area receives will depend on the storm's eventual path.

Rain is forecast to move across much of England and eastern Wales on Tuesday before progressing towards Scotland later in the day. Additional rainfall is expected in numerous parts of the UK on Wednesday.

Because the storm's trajectory remains uncertain, the Met Office cautioned that forecasts could change and advised the public to monitor the latest weather warnings and updates.
