Provided by AGPIn a statement shared on the social media platform X, the US Central Command, known as CENTCOM, said operations linked to the blockade remain active.
“The US naval blockade against Iran continues to be fully enforced,” US Central Command, also known as CENTCOM, said in a statement posted on the US social media platform X.
“As of today, CENTCOM forces have redirected 58 commercial vessels and disabled 4 since April 13 to prevent the ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports,” it added.
Regional instability has intensified following military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran, which led to retaliatory actions by Tehran targeting Israel and US-allied Gulf states, as well as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire later went into effect on April 8 after mediation efforts led by Pakistan, but negotiations held in Islamabad did not result in a long-term settlement. US President Donald Trump later declared that the truce would continue without specifying an end date.
American forces have continued enforcing the maritime blockade against Iranian shipping activity in the Strait of Hormuz since April 13.
