British Boy Turns Mosque Hate Incident into Nationwide Kindness Campaign
After the incident, the father-son duo began visiting mosques across the UK, meeting worshippers and handing out homemade cakes as a gesture of solidarity. Having already traveled to more than 60 mosques nationwide, they now say they hope to continue their journey by visiting mosques in Türkiye.
The episode that sparked the initiative occurred in October 2025, when far-right extremist Alexander Hooper entered a mosque in Peterborough. He reportedly sat beside worshippers performing ablution and made offensive comments about Islam and Muslims. Congregants alerted authorities, prompting police to respond.
During efforts to escort the 57-year-old from the premises, a confrontation broke out between him and a female officer. Worshippers assisted police in restraining him, and he was subsequently taken into custody. The event, described in British reports as the “Alma Road Mosque incident,” was cited among a string of recent far-right hate acts in the country.
Deeply moved by what had happened, Harris decided to visit the mosque with his son to express support and deliver a clear message: “You are not alone.”
“The story began in the most unexpected way. We simply wanted to share a message of solidarity,” Harris said.
He praised his son’s baking talents, saying, “This little boy -- a 12-year-old non-speaking child known globally as ‘Joshi Man’ -- is an incredible baker,” the father said, adding: “We made some cakes together, shared a video, and it unexpectedly went viral worldwide.”
