Zelenskyy Seeks European Support After Tense Trump Meeting
The meeting, held at the White House on Friday, was fraught with tension, as Trump pushed Zelenskyy to make territorial compromises with Russia or face severe consequences.
Sources familiar with the details of the conversation, who wished to remain anonymous due to diplomatic sensitivities, revealed that Trump dismissed Ukraine’s front-line maps and suggested that Ukraine should cede the entire Donbas region to Russia in exchange for peace.
A media outlet reported that Trump conveyed a stark warning to Zelenskyy: “He said Putin will destroy you if you don’t agree now,” one individual recalled.
During the exchange, Zelenskyy presented detailed maps, hoping to clarify Ukraine’s stance.
However, the source noted that Trump was uninterested in engaging with Ukraine’s position. "Zelenskyy had his maps and everything and he was explaining it … but (Trump) wanted nothing to do with it," the person stated.
Trump’s response appeared dismissive of Ukraine’s arguments, as he reportedly said, “It was pretty much like ‘no, look guys, you can’t possibly win back any territory … There is nothing we can do to save you. You should try to give diplomacy another chance’."
