France Urges Israel to End Gaza Genocide

(MENAFN) France on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation of Israel's decision to expand and intensify its military campaign in central Gaza City, warning that over 600,000 civilians remain trapped in the area.

In an official statement, the French Foreign Ministry stressed that Israel’s operation had forced more than 300,000 people to flee their homes. It further called on Israel to halt what it described as a "destructive campaign" that "no longer has any military logic."

"France calls on Israel to put an end to this destructive campaign, which no longer has any military logic, and to resume negotiations as quickly as possible with a view to a ceasefire and the release of all hostages," the ministry stated.

The statement highlighted the "extremely serious humanitarian and health context" in Gaza, where the ongoing conflict has caused widespread famine and left residents without access to essential supplies and emergency medical care.

In addition, France reiterated its demand for Israel to "immediately lift all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza to allow for its immediate, massive, and unhindered delivery."

This escalation comes amid the dire plight of nearly a million Palestinians trapped in Gaza City under unrelenting airstrikes. Since the outbreak of hostilities in October 2023, the Israeli military has killed almost 65,000 Palestinians, with a large majority being women and children. The ongoing assault has rendered the Gaza Strip nearly uninhabitable, driving widespread starvation and disease.
