Algerian President Announces New Government Cabinet
Sifi Ghrieb, who previously served as the industry minister, had been acting prime minister since President Tebboune ended Nadir Larbaoui’s tenure last month, paving the way for this formal government formation.
One of the most notable changes in the cabinet is the restructuring of the energy sector. The energy portfolio was divided into two separate ministries: Mourad Adjal was appointed to lead the newly created Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy, while Mohamed Arkab was assigned the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines. This division reflects Algeria’s strategic focus on both traditional energy resources and expanding renewable energy initiatives.
As a major supplier of energy to several European countries, Algeria continues to emphasize the importance of stabilizing and growing its energy exports while simultaneously working to diversify its economy beyond hydrocarbons.
