Polish Premier Vows Firm Response After Drone Incident

(MENAFN) Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, issued a strong warning on Thursday, stating that any future assaults would be met with a response that is "adequate," following recent drone intrusions into the country.

"Anyone who decides to attack Poland in any way will be treated adequately, as happened on the night of Sept. 10,” Tusk stated during a National Security Council briefing, as reported by a news agency.

Tusk emphasized that Russia is accountable for the violations of Polish airspace.

"We are more precisely identifying those who, whether for political reasons, stupidity or betrayal, serve Russian propaganda and disinformation," he added.

On Wednesday, Polish officials announced that their airspace had been breached by unmanned aerial vehicles during nighttime assaults between Russia and Ukraine, labeling the event an “act of aggression.”

Tusk described the drones as “Russian,” with initial reports noting 19 separate violations of Poland’s airspace.

The Russian Defense Ministry denied any intent to target locations within Poland during the strikes, asserting that its attacks were focused on Ukraine’s defense industry facilities in the western region.

Moscow also conveyed its openness to hold talks with representatives from Warsaw regarding the matter.
