Gaza Bleeds: Nearly 64,900 Palestinians Killed in Israel’s Relentless Bombardments
In the past 24 hours alone, 68 more bodies were retrieved, and 346 others were injured, pushing the total number of wounded to 164,610 since the conflict began. The ministry emphasized that many victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded along roads, with rescuers unable to reach them due to ongoing bombardments.
The statement also reported that 10 Palestinians were killed, and more than 18 others injured by Israeli forces while attempting to access humanitarian aid. Since May 27, at least 2,494 Palestinians have been killed while seeking assistance, and over 18,135 have been injured.
In addition, the ministry announced two more deaths attributed to malnutrition and starvation in the last 24 hours, bringing the famine-related death toll since October 2023 to 422, including 145 children.
Gaza’s population of 2.4 million has been trapped by the closure of all border crossings by Israeli authorities since March 2, pushing the region into a severe food crisis.
The United Nations' Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirmed that famine conditions now affect northern Gaza, with projections indicating that central and southern Gaza—Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis—could be next to experience the same fate by the end of September. Since the IPC declared a famine in Gaza, 144 people have starved to death, including 30 children, the ministry reported.
The Israeli military resumed its heavy bombardment of Gaza on March 18, killing 12,321 people and injuring 52,569, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that was in place earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Israel continues to face significant international legal pressure. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
