Delta Air Lines, United Airlines get sued for selling window seats without windows

(MENAFN) Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are being sued by passengers who allege they paid extra for window seats but were instead placed next to solid walls.

The two separate lawsuits are seeking millions of dollars in compensation on behalf of more than a million travelers for each airline.

According to the complaints, the airlines fail to disclose during booking that certain seats marketed as window seats do not actually have windows, even though they are sold at a higher price.

United stated it would not comment due to the ongoing nature of the case, while Delta has also been contacted for a response.

Both cases, which were filed by the same law firm, request refunds of the added fees for passengers who paid for window seats that turned out to be windowless.

Court documents explain that some Boeing and Airbus models contain seats without windows due to the placement of air conditioning systems, wiring, or other equipment. These specific seats are not identified in the airlines’ seat selection process, the lawsuits claim.

The complaints emphasize that many travelers choose window seats for reasons such as easing flight anxiety, reducing motion sickness, entertaining children, or simply enjoying the view. They argue that passengers would not have paid extra—or in some cases, would not have selected those seats at all—had they known they lacked windows.
