China to resolve key economic concerns with India
(MENAFN) China has indicated it will address key economic concerns raised by India, including the supply of rare earth materials, fertilizers, and tunnel-boring machines, Indian media reported Tuesday.
During talks with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reportedly assured that Beijing has begun responding to India’s requests for these exports, with shipments already underway, according to ANI and the Economic Times. Media sources in the Indian government also confirmed the development.
Wang is on a three-day visit to New Delhi, where he will hold border discussions with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
China, the world’s largest producer of rare earth magnets, had imposed restrictions in April on certain rare earth products and magnets, disrupting supply chains in aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor sectors. Exports of fertilizers and tunnel-boring machines to India have also been limited, affecting agriculture and infrastructure projects.
Jaishankar emphasized India’s desire for a “stable, cooperative, and forward-looking relationship” with China. Both nations are also exploring broader economic cooperation amid steep US tariffs. Wang noted the global rise in unilateral trade measures, warning of threats to free trade and the international order, in an apparent reference to US trade policies.
